Collection description

Fraught and Focus is an approach I've returned to often since buying my first fixed focal length (prime) lens. With no zoom, you have to physically move closer to the subject. To get the perspective I want, that usually means a crouch, crawl, or full-on contortion—while passersby, mostly, keep their comments to themselves.

The effort pays off. In the right position, I find a way into the world of a single plant or tree—watching how it stretches and shapes itself, grasping for sunlight. In that small world, form always follows the function of survival.
